How do I use Hashtags for More Likes?

Use Them In All Social Media posts.

Hashtags help you categorize information and make it more discoverable. That means you should use them every time, all the time. Don’t be shy. A hashtag gives you more keywords to work with.

Save All Images With Hashtags

Make your life easy! I save my images with the same title as I would use for my “alt text”. Your alt text description is what triggers search engines. Not using this space is irresponsible in the blog world.

  • It’s easier to create great SEO driven pins with hashtags allowing you to copy and paste the title into the alt section.
  • Always update your alt text image description and include hashtags. I SEE NO DESCRIPTIONS FOR PINTEREST PINS ALL THE TIME. STOP BEING GUILTY!
  • IMG3435.7 is not a description and there is no way for any search engine to associate that with your article, and this it will never be found. End rant.
  • A good structure to follow for saving your photos is ‘Name of Post / Call to Action / Blog Name / Hashtags.
  • Typically 9 hashtags yield the most results. The name of your post should also contain ‘keywords’. Here’s an example:

Where to Find More Hashtags and Analytics?

You can use the search bars on Pinterest and Twitter for suggested hashtags and keywords. *On Pinterest keep in mind keywords will appear. Just add a hashtag.

If you are interested in checking the analytics of your hashtags before you implement them, there are some great resources to do so.

Keyhole will tell you how popular a hashtag has been within the last 4 years.

Both of these resources are a great way to start a list of hashtags that are relevant to your blog and niche.

Keep in mind: If a hashtag has 20 million posts, your post will be quickly moved out of view. Ideally Use 9 Hashtags. This will give you a varied range. Get both specific and broad with your hashtags to ensure maximum viewability.

More Tools for Success

My favorite tool for scheduling Pinterest pins is Tailwind. It’s important for you to spread hashtags and keywords from your site daily. Now with Tailwind you can also share your Instagram account.

Pinning is work and you should be sharing between 35-55 pins a day for growth.

My engagement grew to a new level with optimal pinning times provided by tailwind to increase viewership. I HATED pinning, and the concept of Pinterest till I found Tailwind. HATED. Now Pinterest is my absolute favorite.

So what does auto-scheduling mean? It means you can ‘queue’ any pin or picture from anywhere online to post to your Pinterest through Tailwind. Tailwind created AN AMAZING extension for your browser called Tailwind Publisher, this allows you to schedule dozens of pins at a time.

Tailwind has saved me hundreds and hundreds of hours on Pinterest. I can schedule 500 pins at a time and never worry about crowding my follower’s boards. That peace of mind is priceless

best Hashtags. easy guide for more followers

Freebie Alert from The Rising Damsel and Tailwind!

Ready to see what auto scheduling can do for you!? Reading The Rising Damsel, gets you a free trial thanks to our arrangement with Tailwind! You are credited with the ability to schedule 100 queued pins, or use auto-scheduling for a month whichever comes first.

*I recommend hitting tailwind hard! Pin 20 pins a day for 5 days. This will give you a good idea of what scheduled pinning can really do for your follower count. Continue normal use of Pinterest but add your additional free auto scheduled pins via Tailwind.*best Hashtags guide for Pinterest to Get More Followers.

Another bonus of Tailwind is completely FREE ‘tribes’. Use tribes anytime you want without a membership for a traffic boost.

Tribes are similar to Pinterest group boards, ie they’re existing boards you can contribute to. Join my brand new tribe, Promote Your Blog and start sharing your pins today! Once you’re on Tailwind I can also share my list of other tribes you can join.

SECRET: You can still see repin numbers on Tailwind!

I would pay triple for this program. Hands down, I would not use Pinterest without Tailwind. It’s too time consuming without automated pinning. Traffic is the name of the game and Tailwind delivers by allowing you to engage your followers often.

Found you on a FB group thread from the ‘Lovely Bloggers’ – came here to support you and I am blown away! I’ve been hunting your site for a good 20 minutes now, falling into post after post. So far I’ve pinned, stumbled and scheduled, LOL! Good stuff. Glad I found your site, thank you for sharing it! You mentioned Buffer in a couple places – have you found it to truly be suitable? I love the idea of a free service that would rival Hootsuite, but for some reason, that free tag also makes me nervous.

Oh – my own (very small and new site, since you asked at the end of this post) http://www.agilbertkindoflife.com

Thank you for such a thoughtful comment. I appreciate you sharing the content so much. As far as Buffer, absolutely it’s amazing. I use it predominantly for twitter and google+ to cover my bases. There’s absolutely nothing weird about it. I was waiting to be sketched out too, but they never even ask for a credit card number which I loved. I have the internet extension as well to easily ‘buffer’ content from all over the web and never one glitch or hiccup. I am so happy with it. Buffer actually has no affiliate programs, but as long as it works as well as it does, I see no reason to promote Hootsuite lol. I really appreciate you finding me too. I can’t wait to check out your blog. Thanks so much again. You made my night. Let me know if I can help in anyway.
