Every post needs certain elements to go viral! Use my easy tips to ensure readability and shareability.
A Catchy Title. Be upfront with how your post will add value to your reader’s life! Next, make sure that internet browsers are able to easily find it. That means ‘search engine optimization’. My go-to SEO for help is Yoast. With Yoast you can easily optimize your post title, meta description, slug, keywords, and readability. Post titles should be around 70 characters long and contain a few great keywords as well.
Great Content. Have a purpose whenever you start a post. Are you attempting to motivate your reader? Are you sharing information? What is your call to action? Have these in mind before you start writing. I do a lot of research before I even title a post. Learn and live your subject before you try to share it. Actual experience gives your site authenticity that shows your uniqueness.
Make sure that you are editing your posts thoroughly. The last thing you want is a pile of run on sentences. I was told to read my sentences out loud to catch any grammatical errors. Works like a charm every time.
Deep Linking. Vegas casinos are notorious for creating a maze to keep patrons indoors and gambling. You will want to create this for your reader through links. Give readers lots of options in order to keep them reading, clicking and thus giving them time to get to know you. You want a reader that sticks around for awhile. You want an involved reader rather than someone who glances at a post and dashes off. Be sticky by giving them lots of interesting, resourceful material.
Attention Grabbing Pictures. Pictures give your blog character and help to make your site memorable. Bright colors in photos help to liven up a technical blog and make it more welcoming. I absolutely love using stock photos! My go-to site is Pexels. Creating around 5 pins per post is a good place to start. This would be a completely unreasonable goal if I only staged my own photos. If you’re using photos that you didn’t get from a stock site, make sure you are not violating any laws by putting them on your blog. I edit all of my photos using Picmonkey. Remember to always include ‘alt text’ when adding a photo to your site. This will assist search engines to find your images.
Connect with your Reader. Give your reader a way to contact you with future questions and comments at the end of each post.
Share. Get your post out there! Pinterest, Twitter, and facebook are a great place to start. Link your post wherever you can. Commenting on another blog? Share your website name in your signature. Get creative, contact companies, let them know you are writing about them and promoting them! You never know they might post your article on their site.
Use Tailwind Tribes. Tailwind is a program that auto schedules pins. Their tribe feature is completely free, and let’s you connect with tribes similar to pinterest’s ‘Group Boards’. If you are looking for a Tailwind Tribe try The Rising Damsel’s brand new one: here.
