Inspirational tips and tricks to achieve success. Great guide for change #success #inspiration #girlboss #womenSuccessful people do things a little bit differently, don’t they? You’ve seen the confidence, that little pep in someone’s step. With the right state of mind, you can achieve success too. Habits of successful people are easy to learn and fun to implement.

I wanted to know the habits of successful people and what they did to help achieve success.

With tweaks to your everyday habits, anything is possible. This is what I discovered…

1. Successful People Appreciate Mentorship

We can’t know it all, but other people have a lot more experience than we do. Use that!

If someone is willing to give you unsolicited advice listen. Even if you aren’t interested you get a look inside their pitch.

Every interaction is an opportunity to learn, and mentorship can mean so much more than simple tips. It can lead to a lifestyle change.

Your realtor, financial agent, accountant and peers all have a wealth of information. Be open-minded and appreciative if someone shares their wisdom.

2. Achieve Success By Avoiding Guilt

Your friends, coworkers, and family don’t control what you do. If anyone is bringing guilt into your life they are bringing negativity.

When you do want to say ‘no’, avoid excuses and too much information. An excuse can always be circumvented. Example: “Oh your tire popped and you can’t make it? No problem I’ll pick you up!”

Your brain screams “NOOOOOOO!” you have Netflix on and no intention of going anywhere. What now? Did you just get food poisoning?

This has happened to everyone, and it’s awful. You cornered yourself and a lie on top of a lie seems silly. Be honest from the start.

Guilt and anxiety lead to stress which is unhealthy for your heart and overall health.

You can say No. It’s allowed. Successful people are confident in saying “No.”

3. Don’t Take Out Loans That You Can’t Afford

Be smart about taking a loan from anyone, that includes financial institutions. A loan means debt, be it to a company or a friend or family.

A loan might make you feel inclined to spend more than you can afford. So keep your finances in check during your planning phase to avoid unsightly, costs later if a loan is unavoidable.

The implications of a loan can be steep. Leveraging your house with a Home Equity Line of Credit seems like a great idea until the housing market crashes.

Spending within your means will ensure lifelong happiness.

4. A Great Habit is a Good Morning Routine

Getting to sleep on time and waking up without an alarm clock is actually ideal.

The thought of going to bed with no alarm clock is terrifying, right? But did you know that your body’s internal clock should actually be the thing to wake you up every day?

It’s true.

If the morning is difficult for you, take steps to ease your own pain. Plan for 8 hours of sleep, pick out clothes the night before, utilize meal prep, organize your exit (keys, money, phone in the correct place).

Planning ahead saves you tons of time. You’ll be more punctual, and that’s in addition to feeling calmer upon arrival.

If you struggle with a busy mind at night, try keeping a pen and paper on your nightstand for any last-second thoughts or ‘to-do’s”. Writing something down will quiet your mind and allow you to move onto sleep instead of spinning worry.

Remember to hydrate your internal organs immediately when you wake up. This will not only assist with the bodily function it will wake up your metabolism. With this little change, I see a positive effect on my energy and mood all day long. By waking your body up with a nice glass of water, it really feels like your cells swell with happiness. Try it.

5. Save More Money

It’s important to consider your purchase before spending money. Buy things that you invest in. Frivolous items collect dust, make your house dirtier and take up space.

When you take up a more minimalist mindset you will have less to buy and automatically save more. Take pride in your items, and they will last you a lifetime.

6. Set Goals

Little goals help you realize that you are making accomplishments while still aiming for the bigger picture.

Learning, growing, and evolving is a healthy part of life. With goals in mind, you are going to stay more motivated and happy.

A prize for hitting your goal is always a good idea! Reward your hard work whenever you can.

7. Make Time For Yourself

What’s important to you? If you aren’t making time for it in your life, eventually you will get resentful of whatever is seemingly keeping you from what you do enjoy.

Sometimes people need alone time and there is nothing to be ashamed of. Recharge your own energy however you see fit.

Reading, painting, yoga, exercise, fishing, walking, and yes getting your nails did, are great examples of making time for yourself. But more importantly learn that language, take that cooking class, start that blog, write that book. Don’t use not having time as an excuse to not go for your dreams.

Make sure that you are taking care of all aspects of your life, especially you.

8. Plan For the Worst

Living way below your means should be a common practice.

Creating a rainy day plan when you live below your means frees up even more money. Unfortunately this day and age a rainy day fund can quickly get swept up into unexpected bills.

Don’t be discouraged if this happens! You are still ahead of the game. A paid bill is way better than accumulating debt for situations you can’t control.

Start by having a really concrete idea of what your monthly expenses are. This will allow you to assess where you can save more money, and where you might just be flat-out wasting it.

Remember downsizing doesn’t necessarily mean ridding yourself of everything. You’re just placing more value on what you enjoy.

With a plan, the worst can seem a lot less bad.

9. Take Care of Your Health

Taking care of your health is definitely a multifaceted topic, isn’t it?

What I mean to say is health and wellness takes effort. Sometimes it even takes an investment, like for a gym membership.

A fit bit is a great way to stay cognizant of your everyday movement. My husband got me this one for my birthday and I’m obsessed with checking my steps and sleep log. Here is my model: FitBit – Track Your Steps and Keep Track of Your Sleeping Habits for Overall Wellness. I love it and it holds a charge for almost a week!

10. Don’t Keep Credit Card Debt

Try to pay off any debt as soon as you can.

Overtime your bills will cost you significantly more money than the original price. It’s important to calculate how much it’s costing you to keep something on a credit card.

Keep in mind: Even if your credit is fine you still have to pay interest. That means technically your shoes or whatever else, are on loan. Every time you wear your shoes without paying them off, you are costing yourself more money.

Save for your splurges. Credit gives you an unjust sense of financial security because it’s less tangible.

Next time you’re tempted to reach for your card, ask yourself why you aren’t paying cash?

At the very worst credit cards should be used for emergency situations only.

If you’re trying to build points, make sure and pay that sucker off every month!

Recently I discovered Trim – Bill Negotiator it’s an easy app that can negotiate bills with credit card companies and businesses. Cheaper cable anyone? Trim also ensures your subscriptions are canceled among many other features to ensure you aren’t throwing money away. Start to take time to enjoy the little things in life.

A dessert, a glass of wine whatever your indulgence is, savor it.

Cost doesn’t always indicate quality. Indulgence doesn’t have to be expensive.

Successful people appreciate experiences and indulging is an easy one to take pleasure in. Once in a while 🙂

12. Achieve Success By Having a Side Hustle

What would you do if everything changed tomorrow? With life, change is always a possibility.

Savings definitely help in situations of immediate change, but why not set yourself up to create your own success or business?

Many successful people chose to take control of their lives, create their own product, open a business or even start a blog.

I chose the latter and it was the best choice of my life! Complete freedom is sweet.

13. Achieve Success By Realizing the Importance of Adventure

Travel is one thing, getting out of your own way is another. An adventure can still be cheap. Start small.

Checking out a tourist spot, a drive to a little diner, walking around a park. They all hold value.

Do you enjoy your city? If someone asked about a great restaurant to go to with extra ambiance, would you know where to direct them?

All of these little things are still adventurous if they are out of the norm.

14. Eat For Wellness

A change in food preparation with some research can make a great deal of difference to your diet.

It’s important to try and stay up to date on food trends and try to explore different benefits of holistic eating.

15. Keep Your Minds Sharp

Yoga, meditation, board games, sudoku, reading the newspaper. It keeps your mind alert and active.

True story my Grandma was 92 when she died and read the newspaper every day. She never once misspoke due to her age, and never had a memory problem.

When you’re absorbing new information and actively engaging your brain it keeps it fit. After all, our brains are a muscle too.

16. Play the Long Game

Not everything is easy, but successful people know when to play the long game. Yes, that means sticking with school or sometimes sticking with a less than ideal job.

If you want to quit something that you’re knee-deep in, weigh your options thoroughly before making a decision.

Struggles can be worth it, and irrational behavior can be rewarded with regret. This would also be an excellent time to talk to a mentor.

17. Achieve Success With a Positive State of Mind

Live your own success every day. Whether it costs you $5 bucks or $200 everything becomes relative.

You need to learn to enjoy your time, your taste buds and your experiences because money can’t buy it, but a state of mind change can help you feel fulfilled and on your way to getting everything you want.
