Feeling blue? Easy ways to boost your mood today

The worst thing about living in a busy society is that all too often we don’t take time to care for ourselves. Who doesn’t want to be in a better mood? We’re all go-go-go and that appreciation for life and living goes out the window. When you remember to take care of yourself, you’re able to live your best life and give more of yourself to the people around you. These little life tips will help you get on track and feel more in control.

We all get caught up in slumps. The season may be to blame, your job, your friends … but there’s hope I promise! Pick one or all of these quick moods boosting secrets and experience a better mindset.

Plan a Day For Yourself

When you give your all to everyone every day, it’s only fair that you treat yourself to that same kindness! Plan a day of activities you enjoy. If it costs a little extra, spend it. It will make that hard work feel worth it if you reach the end of your rope.

Treat yourself. I love these snail jelly masks. Sounds weird but almost 500 other people love them too.

Get 5 Minutes of Exercise

Boost those endorphins by breaking a sweat. A better mood is often the result of working out. My Pinterest exercise board is loaded with easy exercises to check it out here.

I try to do 30 squats a day. When I stopped doing it for a month, and I could tell a huge difference! Little changes make a bigger impact than you may realize, don’t discredit your effort. It all adds up in the end.

Tidy Up An Area of Your House

When your space is neat and tidy it allows your brain to think more creatively.

Your living area should be picked up with everything in its own spot. You will be able to relax more easily when you aren’t surrounded by clutter.

Do Something Nice For Someone Else

It feels great to do something for someone else! It doesn’t have to cost anything. Sometimes just smiling at a stranger can make a difference.

I love to give people compliments. It’s an easy way to let someone know that they matter. They will be in a better mood and you will walk away smiling too.

Start a Side Hustle

The fear that money is tight holds many of us back.

Instead of being worried about your current finances, take steps to better them. Having extra money is freeing, and knowing that you are taking steps to better your future will instantly boost your mood.

Less Stress and Less debt is only 30 seconds away

There are a ton of ways to make extra money online. Whether you complete online surveys to earn cash or start your very own blog.

I make money on my blog with affiliate marketing, but you can always create your own product like Michelle of Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing did. Check it out for a great breakdown and an excellent example of a sales page

Write Down Everything That Comes to Your Mind

Let your mind be free! It’s going to feel silly at first but grab a piece of paper & pen and just jot down everything that pops into your mind.

You will be shocked at what comes out. Maybe it’s a shopping list, or maybe it’s a dream from last night that you now remember. Whatever it is, writing is therapeutic and will help your overall mood.

Make a List of Favorite Restaurants To Go To

Often times we forget to actually enjoy the things in life the give us pleasure! A great way to get out and spend quality time with yourself or your loved ones is with an outing that satisfies your tummy.

Eating different foods and having different experiences means that it’s possible to transport yourself to different parts of the world.

Make a List of Places You Want to GoImprove your mood! Easy changes to make an impact

Start to organize your plans so that you can set in motion your dream vacation.

If you have no idea where you would like to travel, think about your favorite food! It doesn’t have to be outlandish. If you love key lime pie, plan a trip to Florida to get the best. Total bonus, Mickey Mouse. See what I mean?

Light a Candle

What makes you happy? A little rest and relaxation does everyone well, but there’s something extra special about turning down all the lights and lighting a candle.

Get a scented candle that reminds you of a happy memory. Turn off all technology, close your eyes and enjoy. I love these cupcake scented candles.

Research a Topic That You’re Interested In

Knowledge is power! Knowing random facts enriches your life and the lives of those around you. You never know what might spark a new passion or career. The more you know, the better equipped you are to succeed.

Looking for a few suggestions? Here are a few random things I’ve been passionate about in the past: New career options, potentially living in South America, metalwork jewelry, knitting, making my own light fixtures, painting, resin, photography, mobile home living. There are endless experiences and things to learn. You never know how something could change your perception.

Tell Yourself That You’re Awesome

Positive thinking has a bigger impact on your outlook than you think. Positive affirmation on a daily basis can start to change your mindset from day one.

Use a dry erase marker and write some happy thoughts on your mirror.

Hangout With a Critter

Animals are naturally good mood enhancers. Any chance you get to give an animal a pat on the head, take it.

Cook Up a Memory

Did your mom cook up something special when you were a kid? Spend some time creating a personalized version of a past meal. Flavors are the ultimate mood booster.

Need to start creating some cooking memories of your own? My family loves anything made by Ina Garten aka The Barefoot Contessa.

Soak Up Some Vitamin D or Pop a Magnesium Supplement

Even if the sky is overcast you can soak up some vitamin D! Step outside when you’re down. Light is necessary for vitamin D production, and deficiencies in this vitamin have been linked to higher rates of depression.

Another vitamin growing in popularity is magnesium. Magnesium is my go-to for stressful situations, I immediately feel my body start to regulate my heart rate more efficiently when I take one.

Create a Savings Plan

Being proactive about your money will allow you some wiggle room in the future.

It doesn’t have to be a huge lifestyle change. You could start to bring your own coffee to work or eat at home more often. There are 100’s of ways to save on everyday expenses.

Stretch It Out

A little stretching will increase your circulation. It’s great at any time but especially beneficial before you go to bed or when you wake up.

Call Someone Who Makes You Smile

Surround yourself with positivity and it will rub off on you! Being happy is contagious. Some people are always into something new, you might not thrive in that type of environment but it’s motivating to support and hear about what other people are doing too.
